Hi! My name is Fabrizia and I’ m from Benevento, Italy. I spent three fantastic months in a small town of China, it’ s name is Guangshan, Henan province.

Why did you decide to have this experience?

Because I wanted to live a new experience useful to improve my personal and professional competences, to learn about another culture and at the same time to do something of good for the others.

Tell me your first impressions once you arrived/landed in the hosting country

When I arrived in Guangshan the hosting organization and the other volunteers were so kind, they introduced me to the other workers and they explained me how they have organized the work in the school before my arrival (what to teach, timetable, goals).

Since the first day I spended a lot of time outside the hotel to meet local people and to have a look around…And it is incredible how is easy to make new friends in that place! A lot of people of each age stopped me to ask where am I from and why I was in Guangshan. The communication was absolutely not easy but not impossible thanks to the automatic translator and the body language. In this way I discovered and learned a lot of “way to do” so differents from italians.

Which is your best memory of your EVS experience?

It’s not easy to say which of so many beautiful moments is the best one. However, I will tell you about one of these. I spended the first week of my Evs experience together with the other volunteers. I followed them at school and doing the other activities…and they were so good teachers! So smart and able to involve more than 50 children for class! I felt a little bit embarrassed and scared because I thought it was too hard for me…But the problem was only in my mind because when the second week I started to do it the children gave me a very good feedback both during that after the lesson! There was a feeling between me and them and it was a beautiful condition thanks to it my work was a pleasure.

Tell me 3 words representing your mobility?

Adventures. Discoveries. Resizing.

Finally, do you think it was useful? Why?

Yes, absolutely. I did an experience full of emotions (both positive than negative) and I have learned to recognize and manage them better. I have improved in many aspects of my person and at the same time I realized to be good at other things without knowing it.
