From the 10th to the 18th October 2015 a training course on urban gardening and youth work takes place in Palermo. This TC is organized in the frame of the PLACE – Planting Cities project, co-founded by the Erasmus+ Programme under the Key Action 2 – Capacity Building in the field of youth.

After the kick-off meeting held in April 2015, 30 youth workers from Italy, Slovenia, China, India and Nepal are working together in these days on new methodologies for using urban gardening as a means to support social inclusion and community development. The TC aims at enhancing the role of youth workers within the society, promoting an innovative and creative use of urban gardens as a means to improve the quality of youth work as well as sustainability in urban areas.

Through non formal methods, participants will acquire knowledge and competences to develop new local activities and to encourage closer synergies and collaboration between the field of “green” and youth work. The final goal is to transfer what participants have learnt to the EVS volunteers, that will be hosted by each partner country from March to July 2016.

As a final event of the training, on Saturday 17th October from 10 am, the PLACE team and its participants will organize morning gardening event in a public space in Palermo (Piazza Mediterraneo at Ballarò district, near to via Zuppetta). The event will be open to everyone who would like to join it!
